Ted Stanke is a local artist with an unusual medium. He uses pieces of U.S. currency for his sculptures and mosaics. In the piece above he reproduced the mosaic signage at the Wall Street station. Ted’s sign would be way more appropriate than the original. Too bad mutilating currency is controversial and the MTA would never allow it. But I digress.
The artist has made everything from playing cards, to Coke cans to a portrait of Obama out of money. His work is regularly on display at the Greenpoint Gallery and can find troves more of this wonderful work on his blog.
